Student Projects

Initiatives:

If circumstances permit, form a workout club for mutual support. Create a name for it. Pool resources for magazines, books and materials. Create a chart of individual goals and record each others' progress.

Inaugurate an annual 12-week (or longer) "physical-improvement contest," with prizes, awards and publicity. Put on a performance for the rest of the school, which includes contests in various strength/endurance events, as well as measurements.

Below are just a few suggestions for further study and discussion...

Investigate the HFCS Conspiracy and the complicity of specific media, institutions and political figures.

Investigate the use of illegal anabolic substances in professional and amateur athletics.

Relate fitness/health/nutrition practices to events and trends in our society (eg. film, music, Columbine)

Collect food product labels and analyze for their nutritional content (or lack thereof!)

Compile a list of fat-loss product/services advertising and marketing- compare and contrast methods and approaches.

Collect and compare statistics for other preventable illnesses.

In our presentation we relate academic disciplines (English, Science, Math, Languages etc) to fitness and the "real world." Expand on this to include their application to your  daily life.

Explore the Internet's role and offerings, good and bad, with regard to the above (google.com beats any library!)
