FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT

 

All of the exercises we practice to improve strength, power, flexibility and agility are simply preparation for functional ability we will bring to the playing field. The following tests, some of which may use to assess player fitness level are not sport-specific, but generally-accepted measures of athletic conditioning:

 

Push-ups (2 min)                   -Local Muscular Endurance
Sit-ups (2 min)                      -Local Muscular Endurance 
Knee-bends (2 min)              -Local Muscular Endurance/Flexibility
Chin-ups/Pull-ups                -Strength/Local Muscular Endurance
Vertical Jump                      -Max Muscular Power (high-speed strength)
Standing Long Jump           -Max Muscular Power (high-speed strength)
10-yard Sprint                     -Max Muscular Power (high-speed strength)
T-Test                                   -Agility
